What is Liberal Judaism?
Liberal Judaism is the dynamic, cutting edge of modern Judaism. Liberal Judaism reverences Jewish tradition, and seeks to preserve the values of the Judaism of the past while giving them contemporary force. It aspires to a Judaism that is always an active force for good in the lives of Jewish individuals, families and communities today, and equally makes its contribution to the betterment of society.
Liberal Judaism is the Judaism of the past in the process of becoming the Judaism of the future.

Jewish Women: Looking Backwards... Looking Forward...
|
In 1994 the Review ‘Women in the Jewish Community’ was published and included a large number of Recommendations to help women have their voices heard and feel more valued and involved in communal life. It is 15 years since that study and much has changed in the world. The Board of Deputies seeks now to examine how far the ideas of the original study have permeated, and to try and discover some of the concerns and aspirations of today’s women – women from every part of the community. You are invited to take part in this new study which should take you no more than 10 - 15 minutes. Use this opportunity to make your voice heard.

Parashat ha'Shavua
Chayyei Sarah (Genesis: 23.1 - 25.18).
from Rabbi Alexandra Wright
The sedra Chayyei Sarah opens and closes with the death and burial first of Sarah and then Abraham. It is striking that the phraseology used to sum up their lives is identical: chayyei Sarah/chayyei Avraham – literally “the life of Sarah/the life of Abraham.” Read on...
